Features Falling Fruit

Falling Fruit is a 501(c)3 nonprofit based in Boulder, Colorado, USA.
All proceeds from sales of the app help pay to keep our servers online.
The app purchase is itself a tax deductible donation, and we greatly appreciate your support in keeping the project online! Our global map of edibles is not the first of its kind, but it aspires to be the worlds most comprehensive.
While our users contribute locations of their own, we comb the internet for pre-existing knowledge, seeking to unite the efforts of foragers, foresters, and freegans everywhere.
The imported datasets range from small neighborhood foraging maps to vast professionally-compiled tree inventories.
This amounts to thousands of different types of edibles (most, but not all, plant species) across thousands of cities around the world.
Beyond the cultivated and commonplace to the exotic flavors of foreign plants and long-forgotten native plants, foraging in your neighborhood is a journey through time and across cultures.Falling Fruit is not associated with Fallen Fruit.
Fallen Fruit can be found at fallenfruit.org.- French language interface (type common names are still in English only)- Form fields validated on input- Password visibility toggle- Case-insensitive type search- Interface improvements

What Our Users Say

Don't just take our word for it. Here's what our users have to say about our Android app.

"The app doesn't even work long enough to sign up???"

Jessica Bostick

"A great app, but for my purposes it needs more user inputs for finding the fruit trees I'm looking for (specifically pawpaw and persimmons). Other apps have more trees listed but the layout here I think is better."

Ryan M

"An app I want to love more but that is missing basic functionality, like labels in the map view (which ironically the free online version has) and a way to view an item from the list view on the map view. I hope my buying of the app can help support the developers in implementing these features so others will have a better time. As it stands now, it's hard to recommend a purchase."

Shane Linden

"After installing the app on my Google Pixel 4a my phone began randomly restarting."

Austin ch

"Suggestion for the developers: When adding a new marker, you currently have to select the species and genus of the tree. Most people aren't going to know which of the 6 different types of Fig trees (or which of the 4 different cultivars of Loquat) they've found. For this scenario, there should be a 'Fig - unknown type' (or 'Loquat - generic') option. Otherwise, app works great. Deserves a higher rating."

David Vader Vanderfluit

"Wouldn't recommend spending money on this app. It's unusable. There are numbers of trees in the area but when you zoom in the numbers and pins disappear. Apparently there are only two fruit trees in the entirety of Wheaton. That's not only completely inaccurate but even with the app I can't figure out which two trees they are talking about. Maybe if more people were tagging the trees it would be better. Right now it sucks though."

Fen King

"This is an awesome tool for sharing information on local urban foraging! There are certainly areas for improvement, but for the price it's a great service. I would love the option of adding favorites, or a way to refer back to where I've visited. I would also like an option to delete/retire locations that are no longer available (for example, there's a ton of entries for a local grocery chain that closed years ago, and as far as I can tell there's not a way to get them removed)."

Megan Worsham

"Nice, though the functionality is lacking in some areas. For example, it should be possible to select an item in the list view and then see that specific item highlighted on the map. I love the idea as I've kept a private fruit map for years, though I think iNaturalist has far more content at the moment, despite not having an edible fruit focus."

Evan Boyar

"I signed up and saved email and password. Now when I try to login it says the name or password is incorrect. I have verified it is correct and cannot login to use the app."

Kyle Igel

"I have no redownloaded the app and it loaded immediately with no issues. There aren't very many trees or bushes around my area bylut I also kind of assumed that. I can't wait to see when more plants get added!!"
